My Story

Meet Jackson, a 65-pound bundle of joy and the sweetest dog you'll ever meet! This ~2-year-old flat-coated retriever or possibly Lab/Shepherd mix is eager to please and loves everyone he meets. Rescued from the streets just in time—he was moments away from being hit by a car—Jackson was found by a compassionate family in a rural area, where he had likely been abandoned. Despite his rough start, Jackson's loving nature shines through. Jackson is a fetching enthusiast and enjoys lounging next to you while you watch TV. He appears to be house trained and gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats and kids! He's also great on a leash and is a true gentleman in the car, happily sitting in the back and enjoying the ride. Jackson is scheduled to be heartworm tested & neutered soon. He would thrive in a home with a spacious, secure yard and a larger family who can appreciate his affectionate and playful nature. He would certainly enjoy a life full of adventures too! If you're looking for a loyal companion to bring joy and love into your life, Jackson is ready to meet you. Apply today to give this amazing dog the loving home he deserves! PLEASE READ BELOW: If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to please visit our website to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt **Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, questions or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue). The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information. 2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals: Puppies under 12 months - $350 Dogs over 12 months - $250 For additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets, see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq *Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as Pet Finder, and are no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed. *Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our puppies live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match!
