Izzie is a beautiful Brindle Boxer/Terrier mix who is approximately 4 years old and weighs 50 pounds.
She was found living on the streets in a neighborhood in Weslaco, Texas near the border of Mexico. Everyone knew who she was, but no-one claimed her as their own.
She was pregnant and had her babies under an abandoned trailer home. Local children heard the puppies crying and they crawled under the house to pull all of them out ! She did a good job of taking care of her babies. She is just such a sweet mama dog.
All of that is behind her now!
Izzie is such sweet girl with the most wonderful disposition. She is friendly, playful and is always happy to jump in the car and go on an adventure. She loves everyone she meets and her tail is always wagging.
Izzie does get along well with the other dogs in her group here at the rescue and is learning that toys are pretty cool, too. She is crate trained for her meals and for sleeping but if you asked Izzie, curling up next to her people in a warm bed would be a-ok with her as well. We just love this girl and can see her doing well in just about any family environment!
Izzie is located in at our rescue in Hondo, Texas and is available for transport to Gettysburg, PA on August 10th. She is spayed, up to date on all shots, and microchipped. A generous donor has offered to pay half of Izzie's adoption fee, so her adoption fee is $200. The fee includes the transport cost.
*Izzie is Heartworm positive and has completed treatment. She also tested positive for Chagas disease and has started her treatment. This is completely curable after treatment and dogs can go on to live long and happy lives. Our rescue is one of the first to do Chagas testing for all of the dogs in our care and is having measurable success in the treatment protocol. We are also focused on continued education and awareness of Chagas to help even more dogs. For more information, please review here: https://www.tracyspawsrescue.org/chagas
