My Story

Meet Ivy Sex: Female Location: Edmond Ivy is a sweet and resilient girl. Ivy and a very pregnant German Shepherd, were dropped off at the Enid Animal Shelter. Both girls were completely shut down and petrified. They did not know how to walk on a leash and Ivy had to be carried to the truck. For the first few days, Ivy would go to the corner of her kennel, her fosters would sit in the kennel with her and talk to her. After a couple of days, Ivy came up to them to sniff them and allowed light petting. Their patience paid off and she warmed up to them quickly. In the six weeks since Ivy's rescue, she has thrived. Ivy LOVES to be petted and is so excited to see her fosters. Her tail wags and she smiles and cannot wait to get out of her kennel. She stands still while her martingale is snapped on. She is learning "stay" but seems a little resistant to "sit," possibly because of her past life, which we believe was a life lived on a chain or rope. She is very curious about the horses. Ivy hasn't snapped at them, but likes to jump up on them and sniff them, so "leave it" is being incorporated into her training and it is starting to click. Her recall is improving as well. Ivy is super smart and super sweet. Ivy seems to be a low-energy shepherd. That isn't to say that she wouldn't enjoy an event like agility, but she truly savors every minute of her walks. She would probably excel at scent training as her nose is to the ground most times. She allows her ears and feet to be handled, too. She did enjoy playing with a ball while she was in her foster's warehouse. And she is happy to lick you in the face when you get close enough! She loves to hear that she is a good girl. Ivy will be a remarkable pet for someone. She will enjoy curling up on the couch or her dog bed while she is being petted and talked to. Ivy is just precious!
