My Story

All pets are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered when appropriate. Please check here for updated adoption hours. A bit about me: Iron Titus arrived after someone found him scavenging through the garbage near the front of his home. They said the dog seemed very approachable and friendly. After knocking on the neighbors' doors seeking to find his owners, he brought Iron Titus to us. Upon intake, Iron Titus had a neutral relaxed body and a soft wagging tail. He walked with ease to receive vaccines and then walked into the kennel with no issue. My ideal home: Are you a fan of amazing ears? Then Iron Titus is the dog for you. Iron Titus is a nice dog that has become anxious at the care center, whining, vocalizing and sniffing excessively during their assessment. We have no history on his behavior in a home environment, so we do not know if this will occur outside of the care center. If it does appear in a future home, we recommend puzzle toys, long walks, and giving him other things to focus on to alleviate their anxiety. Good with other pets? We offer a 2-week trial adoption to help you see if Iron Titus is a good fit for your home. He has been fine with other dogs while in the care center, though he sometimes "humps" other dogs. Since ACC doesn't test with cats, we're not sure how he'd do with feline friends. Good with kids? Iron Titus is shy and uncomfortable with novel stimuli, so we feel that an adult-only home would be most beneficial at this time. He'd thrive in a loving household where everyone understands and respects his need to relax and feel comfortable at his own pace. How is my health? Iron Titus is medically healthy! He will need to be neutered before adoption. How are my leash manners? Iron Titus has been observed to react to other dogs while on leash, pulling towards them, barking hard and growling. We recommend a front clip harness or head halter to help manage this behavior. What is my behavior assessment? Iron Titus has been assessed as a Level 3 dog. Based on his behavior at the shelter, he would do best with an experienced adopter that understands how to help him with resource guarding and leash manners. She needs a gentle approach and some time to feel comfortable. It's important to let Iron Titus warm up at her own pace and never force her to interact with new people. Our ACC counselors would be happy to provide resources and guidance for Iron Titus's adopter. Primary Color: Gray Weight: 61.2lbs Age: 4yrs 1mths 1wks
