My Story

Name: Iris Sex: Female Color: Red & White Eye Color: Blue Birthday: 05/16/17 (estimated) Weight: 56 lbs Large Dog Friendly: Yes Small Dog Friendly: Yes Cat Friendly: Unknown but doesn't have a high prey drive for small dogs so may very well be OK with cats. Crate Trained: Yes but do not use one as she is completely trustworthy in the house Housebroken: Yes. Has never had an accident in the house from day 1 of coming into rescue Energy Level: Low Reaction to New People: Loves people and attention Kid Friendly: Believe she would be. Hasn't been around many kids. But doesn't jump and is not nippy Training: Knows sit Grooming Needs: shorter coat and very much likes to be brushed. She should receive regular brushing, at least once per week, and more frequently when she is blowing her coat, usually twice per year. Fence: Has a fenced yard at foster home and uses tie out for potty breaks Solo or Siblings: Could be either. She does like having other dogs around and will lay down close to them. She does some play bowing but not sure she ever learned how to play like a husky From the Foster: Iris is just such a delightful girl. She came in as a stray and it was obvious she had litters of pups in her past. She is very sweet, friendly older gal estimated to be between 7 and 8 years old. She loves pretty much everyone she meets and has shown no fear of people or getting pets since coming into rescue. Iris knows sit and takes treats very well. She is still gaining weight as she was pretty thin when she came in. Overall, she is a very petite husky with pretty short legs. Her head also has a bit of an unusual shape, so maybe she is hiding a mixed breed in her! She is not used to walking on a leash so she does a lot of zig zagging, but she doesn't pull and with a little training could become a great walking partner. Iris also has never had an accident in the house since joining her foster family. In fact, they think she is pretty much perfect! She could be added to any family that would give her love and attention. Adoption Fee: $275 All dogs coming into Adopt a Husky Minnesota receive care tailored to their needs, including: Nose-to-tail exam with a partner veterinarian, Vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella), 4DX test to check for heartworm or tick exposure, Fecal Analysis, Heartworm and Flea/Tick Preventative, Spay/Neuter prior to adoption, Microchip, and are evaluated for temperament and trainability.
