***Indy is currently on a medical hold while she recovers from her spay and a hernia repair. She is still available to meet and play with in the meantime. Keep an eye on her petfinder listing for updates on her availability date.****
Meet Indy! This sweet girl is here to tug on all of our heartstrings. Indy is an 8 year old, spayed female, German Shepherd mix. While she didn't come to us under the most fortunate of circumstances, she is hoping to turn her life around and find her safe and loving forever home!
Indy was seen wandering as a stray and ended up sadly being hit by a car. She was taken to a vet, where they made sure she would be okay and gave her the treatment she needed. While she's doing much better, Indy is still on the mend, and her future owner needs to be willing to help her get back into top shape. She still struggles with walking on hard floors, and while she's putting on a brave face, we can tell she's still a bit sore from her ordeal. The vet also thinks she has arthritis in her back end which will require her to take joint supplements and possibly pain reliever. Indy doesn't let this put a damper on her spirits, though! She has been so loving to all of us at the shelter, and she would love nothing more than to spend all day cuddling with her favorite person!
Since Indy was found as a stray, we unfortunately don't know much about her background. We don't know what level of training she has received, and while she keeps her kennel tidy here, we can't guarantee if she is housebroken (keep in mind, too, that as she ages she may struggle more with this, even if she was once fully trained). We have not formally tested her with dogs, but she doesn't seem to love when other dogs approach her kennel. We strongly recommend a meet and greet with any pets or kids in the home prior to adoption. She also may do best in a home with older children or no children, as with her injuries she won't like being grabbed at or jumped on.
Just because Indy's story has hit a bump, it doesn't mean she has to stay down on her luck forever! We know that the right forever home for this sweet girl is out there. If you think you can help Indy spend her golden years in comfort like she deserves, then stop by and meet her today!
