My Story
Hi I'm Indiana Jones. Also known as Indy! I was found as a stray at Heritage park in Mission.. a good Samaritan picked me up and took me home, and supposedly my owner came for me. Then a couple days later, I found myself back at Heritage Park by myself. Another good Samaritan picked me up and contacted LMHS to intake me. Nobody ever came for me the second time.
That was in April of 2023. I was about 6 months old at the time. I'm a good boy and I've been waiting so long for someone to make me their own, and to have a forever home once and for all..
I'm currently 31lbs,. I can be high energy and love to go for multiple walks a day, I also enjoy hiking and walking on the treadmill.
I am very affectionate and friendly, aand I like to cuddle and watch TV in with my humans in the evenings. I am not suitable for humans that are couch potatoes because I LOVE walking and playing.
My rescue people did an Embark DNA test on me and now they know why I'm so tenacious, and can never run out of energy! If you're curious if I'm the right dog for you, check out the breeds in my DNA results.
I am very agile even though I am short legged, and I would be an amazing agility dog!! Seriously, I can jump high, run fast, and I need both physical and mental stimulation.
I am extremely food motivated, and I can be a little guardy over high value treats such as Bones and Bully Sticks (only towards other dogs, not humans). I was super skinny when I was found, and you could see all my ribs, so now I feel like I'm always hungry even when I'm not.
I am super smart, and I learn quick BUT I get so excited so easily, I lose my focus, so my humans need to keep me calm and be consistent.
Therefore, I should be in a home with NO YOUNG CHILDREN. I go over my excitement threshold very easily, and kids get me too excited!! I might jump on them and knock them over.
I am good with other dogs, and I have a bunch of dog friends that I have playdates with. I can get so over excited that I forget to pay attention to the cues from other dogs, so please don't take me to uncontrolled places like dog parks.
I am excellent with cats! I would prefer to live with a dog savvy cat, than another dog, but I love to have dog friends outside of my home!!
I am a good guard dog, and am protective of my home! I will bark at anyone who comes over, don't worry, I'm just doing my job
I do have a little separation anxiety sometimes, because I get so attached to my humans. But it's not so bad anymore. I've calmed down so much in the 14 months I've been at LMHS.
I would love to sleep in bed with my human, but not right away, because that would make my separation anxiety come back. I do sleep comfortably and soundly in my crate at night. I am a good sleeper.
Even though I am super short, I am a counter surfer. I can stretch my body like the rubber man and you cannot leave food on your counters or anywhere else.
I am still a puppy by heart, so you need to puppy proof. You cannot leave your things out where I can get them. Such as your bottles of Tylenol, your shoes, wires, remote controls etc. Unless you want to risk my life and be super upset that your things were destroyed (which would really be your own fault). But as I grow up, I will get better I promise!
It would be best for me to stay in a crate if you have to go out because I might get into stuff you don't want me to touch. I may bark and whine for about 5 minutes but if you give me my favorite chew toys, I won't fret. I don't want to be in a crate for any longer that 4 hours though, so if you work full time and need to leave me alone that long, we may not be the right fit. Overlapping schedules would be fabulous!
I am house trained! I am leash trained too. I also know how to sit and shake a paw!! I even know how to roll over and play dead! I love car rides and I am very well behaved in the car.
I love being off leash in the yard, playing fetch with my humans, and having playdates with my dog friends. I really would like a home with a fully fenced yard where I can play or sunbath in the summertime. Maybe you could get me an agility course and teach me how to use it! I also love walking on the treadmill.
I am neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, tattooed, flea treated and dewormed. My adoption fee is $695.
An adoption application and home visit is required. You can find the adoption application on our website by copying and pasting the following link into your web browser
