My Story

Indie, so named for her life change over Independence Day weekend, is making fireworks of progress on her way to becoming a pet dog again. Indie was known in her neighborhood for living under an abandoned trailer with her puppies. PACA volunteers went to check on the situation and were able to capture Indie and her two puppies. This took several days of visiting the site over July 4 weekend. Indie is now in a foster home and we think she likely was a pet previously. The word in the neighborhood varies, but some say she belonged to the man that owned the trailer and died TWO years ago. She is checking all the boxes of knowing things pet dogs do, especially the sound of a bone being unwrapped! She is refreshing her knowledge of leash walks, baths, and enjoying human companionship. Needless to say any dog that can survive for two years by herself is smart. She is quite willing to follow human guidance. Her tolerance for other dogs is unknown at this point and cats are also unknown. Indie would do well with someone that is willing to show her the ropes for a few weeks to continue her re-acquaintance with pet life. Indie is a unique wiry, bob-tailed mix of cattle dog, Aussie, and perhaps many other breeds. She is 2-3 years old and weighs about 40 lbs. PACA is a Foster-Based Rescue with no shelter. We have adoption clinic on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month from 11a-2pm at 6300 San Mateo (along the grass next to Academy Rd) in the southern end of the Spouts Market parking lot volunteer staffing/weather permitting. We can also make arrangements for a Private Meet-and-Greet with the foster parent and your household with approved applications. You can complete and easy online application here: https://form.jotform.com/222028369049155 The $250 adoption fee covers S/N, microchip, vaccines and heartworm/tic borne illness testing.
