Indi is estimated to be 7-14 months old and she was estimated to be about 15-20 lbs underweight by the vet. She was secured by a local pet recovery service on July 4th. She came into rescue quite fearful. We are not sure how long she was on the run but we do know that dogs on the run need space when they are rescued.
Indi went to an experienced foster home where she was provided the time she needed to decompress. She took a few days to start warming up but once she felt safe, she began seeking out cuddles with her foster mom. It took her a little longer to befriend the resident teenager but she is doing well with her now also.
There is a resident small dog that Indi is okay with as long as the resident pup is not too antagonistic (he is a little older and headstrong). The resident cat and rabbits in the home are being kept securely away as Indi seems to maybe have a prey drive. We suspect that a dog more her size may be a better fit for her. Indi is hesitant of strangers and her foster is working on this with her.
Indi LOVES toys and she appears to be a bit confused about what a "lap dog" is as she believes she qualifies for this designation. She also enjoys a nice doggie pool.
Indi will need a home with an adopter who is patient and willing to help give her the decompression, space, and time she needs to understand that the world is a safe place. Indi is UTD on her vaccinations and will be spayed as soon as she can be per the vet (she was in heat at her first vet visit).
