My Story

Turtle is an incredible girl, who is pure sweetness. She has found herself in a devastating position of losing her family. She was born in a vet practice to a stray mom (who was actually a Yorkie mix! It’s believed they are a wonderful southern combo of Yorkie, lab, beagle and maybe some hound). The mama and her babies were homeless and the vet absolutely fell in love with the two babies. He was the kindest hearted man and decided to keep them together and welcome him to his home as their family dogs. Him and his wife are incredibly kind people, and their compassion extended beyond animals. They have adopted a total of 5 special needs human children and these amazing girls have been raised with them beautifully. Sadly, the seriously persistent medical issues of one of the children has forced them to move to a location closer to where the child receives constant medical care. This has forced their relocation from a home with a fenced yard to an apartment in a city where they cannot keep their two pups. The entire family is devastated, but surely not as devastated as the girls. Knowing the circumstances and what incredible girls they are, fortunately a fabulous foster home was happy to bring them home and care for them until their forever home is found. Turtle has had top notch medical care since the day she was born. She is 4 years old and a perfectly petite 30 lbs. She is healthy as can be, current on all medical care and spayed, and ready to begin the next chapter of her life. Given their foundation and entire life experience, both Turtle and her sister (named Lightening) are incredible dogs. Turtle has been raised with her sister, as well as cats, and children. She has been a true part of the family and as a result, is exceptionally well behaved in the house and has an amazing temperament. She is an unbelievably tender, sweet, loving girl. She picks up on social cues from other dogs easily and is all around an easy going girl. Shes great in the house and fabulously house trained. She will do activities with you though make minimal demands. She enjoys walks and doing anything you’d like to do with her, but her favorite thing in the world is snuggling on the sofa and getting lots of belly rubs. She is at a perfect stage in life activity wise where she is happy to go for hikes or play, but she isn’t overly energetic and is happy to take some walks and sniff around the yard. She has a super soft personality and really enjoys snuggles the most. Turtle will be okay adopted separately from her sister, though we are sure it’s her dream, after all of the family loss, to get to stay with her sister. The most important thing though is finding new parents who will cherish and adore this girl for what an incredible dog that she is, and who will welcome lots of sofa and bed snuggles and want to have a deep, loving connection with their new pup. And of course, her original home is desperately praying that she will find a home who could do what they couldn’t… not only commit to giving her a wonderfully loving home, but to keep her for life. If you’d love to help her pick up the pieces of her loss and build a beautiful new life with this incredible girl, please visit www.greatdivideanimalrescue.org and submit an application for adoption today!
