Howie is an adorable 4 month old Chocolate treat with a splash of white on his chest. His foster mom tells us: "On the way home after I picked him up, Howie was cuddly, quiet, meek and oh so sweet! As soon as we were home, he must have known it was time to get comfortable because he jumped right into play with Brodie and Java, ran around the back yard, went potty, found a ball, and started showing us some typical puppy behavior! For the most part, he's pretty calm for a puppy. Right now, he's hanging out in the 'dog house', AKA my husband's office, konked out!"
Puppies, while adorable, are not for everyone. Think carefully if your lifestyle has room for the extraordinary responsibility of raising a puppy. Do you truly have time for the daily nurturing and constant supervision required? Do you mind piddles on your floor, chewing on your things and, before you know it, a “teenage puppy” with ideas of his own? The proper handling and socialization of a puppy are critical to their development into a well adjusted adult. As Howie grows, he will require your steady, kind leadership, commitment to his training and rely on you for his extensive daily exercise needs.
If you would like Howie, a little “dog to be” to consider your application, please tell us why your home would be suitable for a puppy in the comments section of your application.
Howie will only be placed in a home with: (1) adults or older children who can treat a dog with kindness and respect and (2) one that clearly has the dedication and substantial time throughout the day to devote to raising a puppy to responsible adulthood.
