My Story

This is Hopi.

His name is Hopi, as in the Hopi Indian Reservation. This little guy just happened to be at the right place at the right time. We were RVing thru the grand canyon and surrounding parks in and around the 4 corners. About halfway thru our trip, in the middle of the desert, we stopped to look at Indian jewelry. We were greeted by a bouncy, curious, but mostly hungry pup. We gave him a treat and asked about the little guy. The women said he had been dropped off over a month ago with 2 other pups, and that the other 2 pups were picked up by tourists. He was the only one left. Visibly, he was in need of attention, so we took him. He traveled better than we could have imagined. He was scared at first, but adjusted to the 4 of us and the RV. Not once did he have an accident, not once did he bark or wake us up or do anything remotely annoying…

Hopi is appx 1.5 years old and about 50 lbs. we think he’s part shepherd and definitely a mix, but not sure what with..

Hopi is a little apprehensive in new situations and needs reassurance around some people, but he loves to play with other dogs. We believe that Hopi will do best with another dog in the home, so that he can play and look-up to them. He is a dog who gains confidence by watching other dogs. For that reason we would like him to go to a home with another dog. Hopi is fine with cats and great in the car, on the leash and traveling. Hopi is a very loving, gentle, mellow dog.

Adoption Process: We are not first come first served. Indigo Rescue focuses on finding good matches between dogs and families to ensure life long adoptions. We deliver all dogs to their new homes.

All of our dogs are in foster homes. We have adoption events at the Beaverton PetSmart every other Saturday where you can meet many of our dogs at once. Click Here for our Calendar of Events. Or, if you're interested in a particular dog, you can send an e-mail via the e-mail link at the bottom of the page ("Email adoption organization") with answers to the questions below. If the dog seems compatible with your situation we'll set up a time for you to meet the dog.

Do you have other pets now? (briefly describe)

Have you had pets in the past? What became of them?

What is your schedule like? How long/often will the dog be alone?

What kind of exercise will the dog get? (type/frequency)

Where will the dog be while you're gone? Where will the dog be when you're home? Where will the dog sleep?

Are you in a home or apartment? How long have you lived there? Do you have a fully, securely fenced yard? (type/height)

Do you own or rent your home?

Who else lives in the home? Do you have children? How old are the children?

What changes in your life are likely in the next 10+ years (or life span of the dog) and how will the changes affect the dog? (moving, job or schedule change, school, having children)

Anything else you'd like us to consider in finding the right dog for your family?

Thank you for your interest in adopting and saving a life!
