My Story

Hoover is about 4 years old in these pictures taken March 7, 2009. He came to LP after he came up on a farmer's home and the neighbors were going to shoot him. Poor Hoover was a bit taken back by his new surroundings at LP. He soon settled in and has quickly became a 'must walk dog' for the shelter volunteers. Hoover does great with other dogs. He walks nicely on a leash too. Oh and how he loves tummy rubs. Hoover doesn't mind children either but we recommend that he not be left with small children as he does get upset when someone tries to hold his neck. We are working on getting him to go into a travel kennel to make it easier for transport.

After working with Hoover for about 6 months, LP volunteers have finally gotten him where we can pick him up and put him a travel kennel or car. He does not load easily and must be picked up and pushed in.

Hoover did great at the groomers and was very well behaved while they gave him three baths. He does not like getting shots, being poked for blood, or for the vet to get a temp. Hoover must be muzzled for his safety and the peoples as he just gets so frightened he growls and does try to nip. Something he never does when he is getting attention like a belly rub or being groomed.

On December 3, 2009, Hoover went to the vet to get his annual vaccinations and be tested for Heartworm/Lyme/Ehrlichia. He tested negative for everything and is on Heartworm preventative.
