My Story

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Honey Bee is a 2 YR old spayed female, Pointer mix who is approximately 50 lbs. She is being fostered in Camas, Washington and is available for meet and greets and transport to an approved adopter. Sweet Honey Bee is an affectionate girl who loves people and other dogs. She really comes alive when outside playing with her foster brother and enjoys romping around in the yard. She takes time to warm up to people, but once she trusts her people she seeks affection by sitting by you and asking for pets. She also loves car rides and is comfortable being buckled into her harness and riding around for hours. Honey Bee does well in the house and is completely housebroken. She is not destructive and knows to leave things alone that don't belong to her. She prefers to chew on her bully sticks. Generally, she doesn't care for toys but she does enjoy playing with sticks when outside. Honey Bee doesn't have issues with her crate and goes in on her own. Her foster family covers it and puts blankets inside to help make her feel secure. She does sometimes get sad when her favorite family member is out of the house with the other dog and likes to be included in what's going on. Honey Bee would love to have a dog sibling. When she's with her foster brother, she really comes alive and is very playful. We believe she'd do best in a home with another dog to have for company and to run around with as Honey Bee is very energetic. She tends to "smile" and be especially happy when she gets to play with her foster brother. She can sometimes bark at other dogs on the other side of a fence to protect her space but she does not have issues with other dogs. She also does not react to other dogs while on walks. Honey Bee walks well on leash once her typical route and routine are established. She still becomes skittish when she hears loud noises and can pull when she's startled. It can take time for her to get comfortable with new people as well, but does well with strangers who give her time to warm up and respect her space. We recommend that Honey Bee be in a home with older children. She's currently being fostered in a home with a four and ten year old, and tends to have difficulty settling around the smaller child. Older children that can respect her space are preferred so she can remain calm and happy. An ideal home for Honey Bee is one where the adopters are not often away from her and have flexible schedules that can include her. She ideally will have a foster sibling to play with and a family that has time working with her as she acclimates to her new surroundings. She will continue to need training and a patient family as she works on settling into her routine. Honey Bee is dreaming of a calm environment that can provide consistent love and exercise. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her?
