My Story

12-6-09 Hero is here in Maine and what a sweet dog she is- she would be a great dog for a family looking for a more laid back easy ging dog that doesnt need a ton of exercise. July '09 --what a typical "throwaway" dog situation Hero's is. In the south they don't treat dogs like members of the family and her story illustrates that perfectly. She was a "giveaway dog" at one of the vet's offices, which means she was either found as a stray and brought in by an employee or Good Samaritan; or brought in for euthanasia by an owner and the vet asked for permission to try and find a home for her.

Hero needed some vetting and she went home with a wonderful foster mom who cared for an injury to her left front paw. She was put on rest and antibiotics which did not help her improve. She took Hero back in for X-rays which discovered severe inflammation in both of the bones in her lower leg. She then went on 2 long rounds of heavy duty antibiotics, pain meds and anti-inflammatory drugs. She is now much, much better and puts full weight on all her legs. Only rarely do you see her limp slightly.

She is thought to be about 8 years old and is beginning a little graying around her muzzle. Weighs 60-70 lbs. Spayed, vaccinated. Good with all other dogs. Very easy going, gentle personality. No bad qualities at all.

Please consider giving Hero a great retirement home!
