My Story

Helen came to CalPaws at 6 weeks old and a meager 1lb. The smallest runt of her litter, a life in the shelter had taken its toll on her tiny body. With the help of a wonderful veterinary volunteer and an entire rescue at her back, Helen fought hard for her precious little life! Just one week after coming in to rescue she gained an almost entire pound! She is strong, she is beautiful and true to her namesake Helen of Troy, a war was fought to save her beautiful life. Helen is a quiet beauty. She is very observant where her siblings were adventurous. She is shy where her siblings were outgoing. But this tiny girl is an absolute delight. Every day she grows stronger, bigger and more sure of herself. She has the sweetest little bark and makes the tiniest little growls as she plays with her sister Cricket. Helen loves her foster siblings and is very fond of the adult female husky in the house. She tousles around and plays followed by lengthy naps and snuggles. If Helen had her way she would spend her entire day snuggled up on the chest of her foster mom. This little girl loves to love! Helen would fit in well with a gentle older dog since she is still quite small. She has not met any cats yet but will be tested with a cat as soon as she has more vaccinations and it is safe for her to venture outside. It's likely she will do well since she is considerably smaller than most house cats! DNA test is pending results but it's believed that she is mixed with border collie and German shepherd, mom is definitely German shepherd. Please reach out if you would like more information on this sweet tiny love Puppy: up to 1 yr $450.00 Our dogs are spayed/neutered and a registered chip. For our puppies they are up to date on vaccinations. Once adopted it is the new owner's responsibility to continue the remaining vaccinations with a veterinarian. Our adoption process includes an initial conversation about the dog to see if the dog is a good match or if another dog could be a more suitable match. We also will complete a home visit. It should be noted that our adoption counselors know the dogs and can best guide any possible adopter with a suitable match. Please visit https://www.calpaws.org/available-dogs for the adoption application! We are always in need of experienced fosters for the amount of dogs we have coming in. Being a foster is such a rewarding experience. If you are interested please review https://www.calpaws.org/fostering
