Adoptable: Heidi ??
This sweet girl is approximately 5 to 6 months old. She still has some growing to do, but is now on track to a healthy future! She was rescued from a breeding situation in South NJ where, unfortunately, many GSDs have been housed in a hot barn instead of getting the love they deserve.
Heidi is a pretty laid back puppy. She would do well in a home with a respectful other dog (male, neutered) as she can show dominant qualities- she will not be placed in a home with other females. She has limited prey drive but that may change as she grows or decompresses. She has not been directly exposed to cats. She is outgoing, housebroken (but she's a puppy, so there may be accidents!) and crate trained. Heidi would benefit from structured training, as well as an active lifestyle, with her adoptive family. She requires a yard with a fence.
(*GSDs ears change nearly everyday at this age, so photos depict only a few days of her adorable ears while in her foster home)
If you think Heidi may be a good fit for your family, please apply at gsgsr.org. If you have previously applied for any other dog and would like to be considered for Heidi, please message us directly with your interest and your "AA00--" number you received on your application confirmation. We are not affiliated with any other rescue so please make sure that you apply directly with GSGSR
For more information about our adoption policies and to access our online application, please visit our website at www.gsgsr.org. Please note:
GSGSR's primary service area is New Jersey, however we do reach out just past NJ boundaries if owners and shelters help out. Note: the cost of gas has affected everyone's lives including the rescue dogs.
The age requirement for adoption is 25 to 70 years old; If you are outside of this age range, please email us first.
We require all adopters attend professional training with their adopted dog. Exceptions are made for adopters who are K-9 professionals or for senior dogs being adopted.
We are an all volunteer organization and every effort is made to proceed as efficiently as possible with an application. As with all rescues, we do require veterinary references if you have a pet, personal reference, a phone interview and home visit. This process has been created to ensure that we match each applicant with the best possible dog.
