My Story

This is Hazel (hazy/mazy) Hazel is an absolute sweetheart! She loves to explore and go on walks, still pulls and wants to chase bunnies and squirrels if spotted. When taken off leash with other dogs she hangs around the group very well! Always comes back even if a little distracted. Hazel is a super snuggler. She enjoys the couch, chairs and beds. When humans are at work/away she will go in the crate but needs a peanut butter kong with treats ! Some crates need to be more secure as she will escape if her anxiety takes over. We have found a calming pill/medication helps Hazel chill so when alone she doesnt get herself too worked up. With plenty of exercise Hazel doesnt seem to need her pills. If we know she will be in the crate longer than 5/6 hours we try to give her some medicine just so she doesnt get worked up and try to escape/injure herself trying to escape. If she has enough toys around we have left Hazel out of the crate for 2 -3 hours and nothing has happened. We are still getting to know her so we use the crate when no humans are around normally. But she has great potential as she really just wants her humans to be happy and home and doesnt seem to be destructive to household things. Unfortunately we have not had a lot of luck with introducing Hazel with the cats. They have remained separated despite lots of efforts and different approaches, it is possible she may have better luck with other cats. She is kept on a leash if we are roaming around in the same space with the cats. Feels playful but also unsure if there would be more than just chasing . Hazel is very smart, young, playful and a lover. She is very good with all other dogs and is always invited to see cousin dogs and friend dogs as she brings the fun and will play and chase so nicely! She will fetch sometimes and then also loves to chill in the yard and chew on a bone. She is young and still learning manners but very eager to learn and smart! She will jump when you come inside because she is just so happy her humans are back. When one human leaves you can see her nervousness start but a good toy and some distraction will calm her down. If you are looking for an adventure dog or a snuggle baby this is your gal! If you have other dogs Hazel will help play and entertain your current dog! Hazel does bark with new people in the house but is quick to switch to licks after an introduction. She is also great in the car for car rides . Well this was very hard write and I probably over did it! She really is a great dog !! If things happen to change with the cats we want this sweet girl to be part of our family. She did great camping with Todd even with lots of noises! She saw horses and other dogs and responded well! My cousin and brother both have high energy dogs and she is the best thing for them! She plays so nicely and gets the other dogs to chase and run. Then, when its time to chill and be quiet, we have a sweet cuddly girl. Or she will find her own spot and just chill.
