My Story

Meet Hazel! Hazel - or we playfully call her, Hazel Basil - This sweet angel is pretty shy when you first meet her, but she quickly warms up. Hazel is incredibly smart as she knows how to sit, lay down, and high-five. She does well with other dogs, and is curious about cats so she is continually being trained and exposed. She does not have much exposure to young children, but the time that she did, the loud noises and energy appeared to be a lot for her as she was found observing afar while lying in her crate. Hazel is crate-trained as she does experience some FOMO (fear of missing out) when crated at times during the day, but is ultimately able to self-soothe and nap peacefully, and sleeps soundly in her crate at night as long as she sees that you are close by. Hazel spends most of her days inside, enjoying the A/C while chewing on her favorite toy or playing with her foster dog brother. Hazel is potty trained and eats very well. For a puppy, Hazel's energy level can be described as low to medium as she is often lounging with her foster family, but can be playful and get the zoomies every so often (especially when she is with other dogs). Hazel does need additional training and redirection as she will show you her puppy tendencies of chewing on things other than her toys. Puppy: up to 1 yr $450.00 Our dogs are spayed/neutered and a registered chip. For our puppies they are up to date on vaccinations. Once adopted it is the new owner's responsibility to continue the remaining vaccinations with a veterinarian. Our adoption process includes an initial conversation about the dog to see if the dog is a good match or if another dog could be a more suitable match. We also will complete a home visit. It should be noted that our adoption counselors know the dogs and can best guide any possible adopter with a suitable match. Please visit https://www.calpaws.org/available-dogs for the adoption application! We are always in need of experienced fosters for the amount of dogs we have coming in. Being a foster is such a rewarding experience. If you are interested please review https://www.calpaws.org/fostering
