Harley
Adopted
Breed
Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Chocolate Labrador Retriever
All Planned Pethood dogs and puppies are altered (spayed/neutered) and fully vetted prior to adoption. Dog breed is a best guess by the vet and/or Petfinder breed expert findings. We cannot guarantee breed, weight, age of dogs or final adult size of puppies.
Harley is a beautiful 5 to 6yr old Chesapeake Bay Retriever who came to us as a stray. Harley really misses his people and wants to go home (which is, of course, impossible). We tried to find them and no one came forward so Harley is now a Planned Pethood dog looking for a new family. A breed trait of Chesapeakes is that they are extremely loyal to their family. When Harley first came to our house, he was very depressed at losing his family. He would sit by the front door for hours ‘asking’ us if he could ‘go home.’ With love and attention, Harley is starting to come out of his depression. He is very gentle, well behaved and fully house trained. Harley likes to be petted, play ball and tug of war with dogs or humans. He is left alone with run of the house for hours. He rarely barks, only to warn if someone is outside. Harley knows lots of commands: sit, stay, speak, lay down and he never jumps on people. Car rides are an issue. He begs to go for ride because he thinks he is going home. He becomes overly excited when in a car…racing from window to window trying to find his home; hopefully that will improve with time. Harley needs a new family who will show him that he is loved and valued. He will make a great loyal dog for some lucky family.
