Their Story:
Happy is a 12 week old appenzeller mix that was surrendered to the shelter in December because his owners couldn't keep him. Happy's mix isn't entirely known, but if he grows up to be the size of an appenzell, he will be a relatively large dog. Happy's name also fits him very well. This little guy is very happy go lucky, but can sometimes get a little too hyper. He's good with kids, but probably shouldn't be in a home with little toddlers because he's at the age where he jumps and bites and plays tug of war with clothing. Happy should also begin puppy training once he is adopted as well. Training greatly improves a dogs manners, and WILL help them in the future. So just because he seems like he's not doing to well, keep working!! It will turn out well! Happy's smart and loves treats and being with people!

Our adoption policys include: No same day adoption. This is to ensure that there are no impulse buys. If you currently have animals or had animals in the past, we need to check with the vet clinic to make sure they are up-to-date on vaccinations. We now require proof of home-ownership due to some landlords not allowing pets. There are also some animals that need to be spayed or neutered before leaving the shelter at the new owners expense. These are known as the prespay or preneuters. These animals include purebreds and bully breeds (the pitbull type breeds) for the dogs, purebreds for the cats, and all rabbits must be spayed or neutered before leaving the building. You can call the shelter at 382-4832 if you have any questions.
