Happy

We were out looking for two dogs (who had organized a fabulous escape) when we stumbled on this odd thing. She was laying in the middle of the street, with another little red dog sitting at her side. I pulled over, thinking she had been hit, with the intention of picking her up and moving her to the side of the road, so the other one wouldn't get nailed, when she jumped up, gave me a little sideways look, like how dare you interrupt my nap and laid back down a few feet away. Turns out, she just likes laying in the street. The owner of the red dog said she had been hanging (or laying around as the case may be), for the last several months. A few weeks later, I came back by her napping spot, and she gave me that same funny look, but decided if nothing better was coming along, that I would do for the moment, and' let me pick her up. If you know what a Steiff Bear looks like that's bounced around someone's attic for the last 100 years, then you have some idea what this little discarded child's toy most closely resembles. When I brought her home and bathed her, I was sort of expecting a miraculous make-over vision, but she still kind of looked a little like road -kill that just plain forgot to die. That was a few weeks ago and I'm Happy to report that Happy is filling out and is actually quite Happy...sprouting hair in in worn places and everything!. If you still miss your favorite stuffed friend, from many moons past , come catch this one's act.
