My Story

Hansel is a black and tan, smooth mini neutered male, a very young and active 10 years old. He weighs about 7 pounds. He is tiny. Please read this entire description on info about we adopt. Thanks.

We took Happy Hansel to the fair a few days ago and he was mauled by every child in the place for nine hours. He did exceedingly well. The photo shows was a cute, little ham he is in the exercise pen talking to all the kids. He was also featured on TV so we expect him to not last long so get in touch if you want a seriously happy doggy.

He was turned in to us because he is too much of a hunter. He got out and killed a neighbor's rabbit in their yard, but this is a hunting breed so we do not hold that against him. He does take his hunting seriously and squeaky toys are always a huge hit.

No cat or yard critter is safe around him so if you need a dog to keep the neighbor cats out of your flower beds then he is the one for you. He can't be placed in a home with cats or other small, loose animals, but he is a great watch dog without being yappy or annoying. We like him a lot on our farm and he always tells us when someone is around the gate.

Hansel is good for an apartment, a yard or a farm. This is an active and young acting senior, but he is also happy being a lovable lap pillow with his belly scratched. Because of his age younger children are probably not the best because he does need to rest now and then and to be allowed to sleep when he wants but he is patient and will put up with older children just fine.

He is very healthy other than he is on medication for a heart murmur that costs only $16 every two months. We feed him his 1/2 pill with peanut butter every morning. Other than that he is in great shape and doing well. You would never know he has a heart murmur the way he plays around the place with all our dogs.

He does well with my other dogs and has fun sleeping in the sunshine as do they all. But he would be best being an only pet. He a few some jealousy issues towards other pets and really wants to be an only wiener. With people he is sweet, kind and very obediant. He is also quite a lover boy and handles people quite well.
