My Story

Hammy is 17 weeks old in these pictures taken March 25, 2008. He and his three siblings, Tipper, Scooter, and Piglet, as well as their mom, Zoe, are in foster homes.

Mom, Zoe, had always been kept out on a chain with little protection and sometimes no food or water. The neighbors would watch out for her and helped by giving food and water. Zoe was taken in by those same neighbors when they noticed that her owners had just left her when they moved.

Zoe was pregnant and gave birth to the four puppies (Tipper, Scooter, Hammy, and Piglet) on Thanksgiving Day 2007. The neighbors are keeping her and two of her puppies until we can place them. An LP volunteer has the other two puppies until we can place them.

NOTE: All of the puppies and Zoe are in a foster home. A completed and processed application is required before an appointment will be made to see them. Thank you for your understanding.

From Hammy and Scooter's foster parents - January 31, 2008
Hammy is a loveable sweet boy. He loves to lay on our kitten.

Hammy loves to run and play with Scooter and their favorite thing is to play tug of war with toys or whatever they can find. They both get along with our Jack Russell, Boxer Pit mix, Manchester Terrier and Irish Setter. The kitten loves to play with them and the other 4 cats are used to them and they all get along. The pups both love to get their tummies rubbed and we also rub their feet and mouth area so they won't mind the vet so much. The first time in the snow they rolled and ran in it and just loved it. They enjoy going outside each day and do go potty outside. They also go potty inside because we are gone for 12 hours a day, but they normally go on the newspapers in their kenel area in the garage. We will start walking them on a leash soon!

UPDATE - March 25, 2008:
From Hammy's foster parents

Hammy's best friends are the cats. He loves to play with them and even naps with them. He also gets along with the dogs too. Hammy is puppy pad trained and we believe that it will not take him long to housebreak. He knows how to play fetch and loves playing with toys. Boy does he like the water. We have to watch him when we let him out or he goes straight to the water puddles. There is nothing he likes better than to play in the puddles and splash. He is a great snuggler too. Hammy is a talker and will bark and growl when he wants someone?s attention or to show off. He is for sure a little 'ham.'
