My Story
Gunnar is an amazing dog! J
His veterinarian has estimated that he is between 1.5 - 2 years old, and Embark DNA Services has genotyped him as being 100% purebred American Pit Bull Terrier. His coloration is that of the highly prized "red-nose" variation, as you can see from his beautiful red coat and nose, while his soft, honey-colored eyes speak of his sweetness and spark for life.
Gunnar was found in the parking lot of my coworker's apartment complex, abandoned by his former owner and extremely malnourished (he was barely at 30 lbs when he should have been 50), with one of his hind legs having been injured. We rescued him and I ultimately took him into my home, where I began extensive rehab in order for him to become healthy again. During this time, we worked on basic commands such as: "sit", "stay", "wait", "leave it", "go outside", etc. Gunnar has a grasp on basic commands and is very responsive, but he does need a bit of work on leash training. He is kennel trained and house trained for the most part, however, someone who has a yard will have to work on housebreaking him that way since he is used to an apartment-style life where he goes out on a leash.
As of his last veterinary examination, he has been declared perfectly fit. His body mass is perfect, and the veterinarian was not concerned about his previously injured hind leg. He is also heartworm negative and up to date on all of his vaccines. He currently weighs 55 ish lbs.
He is the sweetest boy and wants only love. I affectionately call him my "velcro dog" because he is so attached to whomever he considers family. He has the biggest personality and will delight anyone with his abundance of energy that is willing to match it. Go ahead and ask him "is this your toy?" and watch as his whole body wiggles with excitement as he gently waits for you to take it from him and throw it so he can fetch! This is an amazing boy and would do great for a single person or in a family setting.

Adoption details:
In some instances, a meet and greet is not possible before adoption unless we have a foster home in New England available. Available for a Meeting confirms the dog is in a NE Foster home and available for a meeting in the city state provided. Most times our dogs get adopted before a foster home becomes available - and if so, they go straight to adopters home. Foster parents talk to adopters and feel confident that this will be a match before our dogs are transported up. Also if by some chance it is not a match we have a safety net in place as we ask that adopters to let us know that it is not a match and we direct you to take the dog to a foster home or boarding kennel once that is arranged. If necessary, we will ask you to foster the dog until a foster home can be arranged.

Mighty Mutts Shipping, Pets LLC (petsllc.net) or CAFA Transport will deliver our precious pups on commercial rescue animal transport to designated locations. The fee is 225.00 which IS INCLUDED in your adoption fee already.

If you are a Massachusetts or New Hampshire residence an additional fee of $155.00 will apply due to State quarantine fee requirements. If the dog is in a foster home in New England, this fee will be added in the adoption fee regardless of where the adopters home is located making the total adoption fee $775.00 for puppies and adults.
