Grits

Grits is a beautiful dog! He’s a true Velcro pup who loves to be with his people. Grits is a medium-energy boy. He enjoys walks, fetch, and swimming adventures but is happy to snuggle and relax on quieter days. Grits is kennel trained, house trained, good on a leash, and knows basic commands like sit, down, and shake. Grits gets along well with dog-savvy cats. He shows some interest in greeting and following the cats in his foster home but is gentle and respects their boundaries. He responds well to “no cats” for redirection. Although he hasn’t been introduced to dogs in his foster home, Grits has been around other dogs and does well with slow introductions. We believe Grits would be great in a home with older children or no children. When very excited, he can sometimes forget his manners and jump. Grits has a manageable health condition that doesn’t slow him down. We are happy to discuss this in more detail and offer assistance for dietary maintenance for the right home. Grits is about 6 years old, weighs 36 pounds, and has a docked tail. He's neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.
