Gretchen

Gretchen is a gorgeous 2 yr old boxer mix whose unusual dark red brindle coloring isn't adequately captured in this photo. Except for one front foot, all of Gretchen's feet are tipped in white. Her nose is short but not quite as stubby as a purebred Boxer. Found as a stray in rural NE Kentucky, Gretchen had recently had a litter of pups and her mammory glands are slowly shrinking. In spite of this temporary condition, the vet felt that her milk had dried up enough to go ahead and spay her so that she will be ready when her perfect, loving home discovers her. She has the sweetest, most devoted temperament; and she gets along with the many dogs and cats in her foster home. Surprisingly, Gretchen tested heartworm negative although anyone who would be irresponsible enough to expose her to indiscriminate breeding certainly wouldn't have been responsible enough to have had her on heartworm preventative. When she was spayed on 8/14/03 at an estimated age of 2 yrs., Gretchen weighed 43.9 lbs. Her foster mom is working on "fattening" up Gretchen and letting her know that she will never again be without food, love, shelter, and protection from parasites and irresponsible people.
