Grandma Lucille

Precious Grandma Lucille entered the Downey shelter with a sweater and microchip, but after waiting for her owners, she was put on a 72 hour timer and no one had shown up for her. So, we did! Despite being severely vision impaired and hard of hearing, we scooped this 12 year-old cherub up and went directly to our vet for a comprehensive assessment of her medical needs. But we found pristine blood work and a supreme will to live, so after a dental and some serious TLC from an incredible foster, this sweet lady mapped out her foster's home and found hope. Grandma Lucille gets around really well on her own, but what she loves more than anything else is being held or close to her person, and would therefore do well with someone who's older, or wants a lap dog while they work from home! Lucille is living with 2 other dogs, but it took about 1 - 2 weeks for her to settle in and feel safe. Her vision and hearing impairments means the other animals can startle her and she feels the need to protect.
