My Story

Gracie was rescued from a horrible living situation. She was never well taken care of always left outside without adequate shelter or food. She was never given the loving attention that she has always desired. Late one evening a neighbor heard Gracie making the most horrible noises crying out in agony, as he ran out to check on her he witnessed her being beaten with a baseball bat by her owner. The neighbor wasnt able to make it to Gracie in time before her owner threw her in his car and drove away. Later that night after the police had been called the neighbor walked through his yard only to see her tied up to a shed in her yard, listless, cold, and in shock. Again the police were called and Gracie was taken by Animal Control to a local veterinarian where she received treatment for her wounds, a warm place to sleep and saftey for the night. After picking Gracie up, her head wounds were doing great, however the left side of her jaw is broken, and it was not repaired, you would never know that it was broken, Gracie has never had a problem eating her dinner or snacking on her treats!

Gracie is a little over a year old, and still very puppy like in her actions and behavior. She was never given the chance to learn how to be a puppy and then grown into an adult. She has learned to sit and at times she does have her quiet moments. During the day she is crated and does very well with it, she is reluctant at times, but has never made a mess in her kennel. After bringing her home we did find that Gracie does not like to be outside without the other dogs or one of us with her, and she does seem to have a bit of separation anxiety when leaving her alone. She lives in a house where there are three other large dogs that she does get along with just fine, she is very passive with them all. There have been smaller dogs in the house with Gracie, and we found that is not something she handles well. So we know Gracie would do best in a house without cats or other small dogs. Gracie does have to be separated at feeding times as she is food aggressive.

I know Gracie would love to finally find that one forever home that she can finally call her own!! We believe that Gracie would do wonderfully in a home by herself or with another dog, where she can play ball and run in the yard, her favorite palce to hang out is on a large tree branch in our big oak tree in the back yard!
