Gizmo is truly a wonder of nature. As soft and wavy-coated as one can imagine, he is long-legged with an enormous head and a soft, solemn, innocent face. He is a baby, but he is big baby.
Gizmo and his 4 beautiful siblings came to us at 6 1/2 weeks of age - they are the off-spring of a 45 pound Shepherd/Rottweiler mom, and a large standard Poodle dad. Gizmo's brothers and sisters have since all been adopted, but Gizmo was held back for additional veterinary care.
Gizmo has shown bravery and merit in addition to his unbelievable cuteness. At the time that he and his litter-mates were surrendered to Hedgseville Hounds, he had already been battling a skin infection ( bacterial staph) without benefit of any veterinary treatment. The infection was very advanced when Gizmo first came into care, and has required special nursing and antibiotic support.
Gizmo has borne with patience and courage the constant cleaning and "fussing" with the affected areas of his body, and we are delighted to announce that he is nearly fully recovered and definitely ready for placement! His beautiful charcoal coat is thick and shiny, and absolutely beautiful.
Gizmo is a happy and curious guy - and filled with the joyful realization that he is valued and loved. As a result of so much "handling", he loves touch, and in fact, is already quite a little character in his own right - his adopter(s) can expect a puppy with wonderful eye contact who is ready to get on with his life.
He is responsive, and the benefits of his extended care include quality time around other dogs and nurturing children, so his socialization has been excellent. He loves to be bathed. He is definitely ready now to be someone's special dog.
Please note: Due to the additional medical expenses incurred with Gizmo, his adoption fee is $225 instead of our normal fee of $200.
