Ginger has gone to a foster to adopt week with a new chihuahua brother and it seems like a great match. Check here for status updates. UPDATE Sept 28th - Ginger has proven herself a very brave little girl. She's great with other dogs big an small although a little cautious around big dogs due to her size, but she's getting along great with her 65lb foster brother and sister. She is great off leash and comes when called and has been truly enjoying big hikes on the mountains in the North Shore with her foster brother and sisters. She's a very active and playful the Chihuahua she came into foster care with and would definitely love a forever home with another small dog who is confident and likes to play.
Ginger is very sweet and affectionate. She loves to play and loves running around off leash. Ginger is doing well with house training and will need a new home who is patient with her learning what it's like living in a house. Previous Chihuahua experience would be a real plus.
Sept 17 2010: Ginger is a young tiny chihuahua that was pulled from a high kill shelter on the morning she was scheduled to be put to sleep because the shelter was full. We estimate her to be between 1 and 2 years old. Ginger is a sweetheart who weighs less than 5lbs and has had some traumatizing experiences with kids in the past and she is very scared of children so as such she won't be adopted to a home with any children or who plans to have children in the future. Otherwise, she is a very playful sweet dog who is very attached to the other chihuahua that came in with her, Sugar. She is good with dogs big and small and likely fine with cats, however if she was to live with another big dog, the dog would need to be very gentle since she is so tiny. She is still a little timid and will need a home where her people are patient with her learning about the world around her. Her people will also need to be patient with her housetraining, it's coming along but not perfect yet.
