My name is Gertrude, but everyone just calls me Gigi. I'm 2 years old, I weigh an athletic 60 lbs, and I'm on the lookout for my forever home. Since you stopped by, I'd like to tell you a bit about who I am and the home I need to help me be the best girl I can be. My ideal person (or people) would have had a dog or two like me in the past, and will know how to help me shine. Most importantly you should know that I really like the calm and quiet setting I am in now in foster care, so having a lot of neighbors (like in an apartment building or townhouse) or a lot of visitors over often won't really work for me. Honestly, I want to be your one and only - kid, dog, or cat roommates don't fit that vision. I know that's a lot to ask, but in return, I will shower you with love and attention! I can't get enough kisses and belly scratches from my foster fam. I thrive on the whole snuggling thing too. I have a little bit of FOMO when it comes to what my foster parents are doing, so sometimes I follow them around to see if I can lend a paw. But the rest of the day I just sleep on the couch, relaxing without a care in the world. I'm super into my routine! I sleep through the night, nap through the morning, get my exercise on in the afternoon, and then crash by 8:30 pm. Playing ball is my favorite exercise so a fenced in yard would be best for me. During play time I look all energetic at first, but the funny thing with me is that it doesn't last very long! I prefer to stay away from busy parks because they're usually too crowded for my liking. And I definitely prefer to stay away from squirrels, or rather I prefer they stay away from me. I'm get pretty excited when I experience new things (meeting new people, visiting new places, etc), so I will need someone with patience and the know-how to help me learn that not every new thing is something to get amped up about. But I'm smart, if I do say so myself! I love "school", aka training time, and I challenge myself to learn new things as quickly as possible. Since moving into my foster home, I've learned sit, down, "come here," and to go into my crate when asked. I'm also house and crate trained. I even learned to ring a bell to tell my foster fam that I need to go out, so I'm pretty proud of that! To top it off, I'm learning about gentle leaders and how they make going on a walk more enjoyable for everyone. One more thing - I hear my adoption fee is sponsored, so that means I can come home with you for free. And that's pretty great! If you'd like to learn more about me, please email my foster at
[email protected] or you can visit my IG @theycallme_gigi_Intake Type: (4/11) Return, (2/7) StrayWeight: 60.8 lbsBite Details: (4/11) Gertrude and her owner were walking by their fence, getting ready to go for a walk. Gertrude saw the other owner's dog and "like a light switch", went after the other dog. Dogs start to fight and owner tries to break up the fight, but he got bit on the right hand. Owner's neighbor jumped the fence and tried to help break up the fight. Owner informed me that the neighbor did not require hospitalization, said he had some scratches but he was bleeding. Owner's wife also tried breaking up the dog fight and she got bit on her finger. Both owner and wife went to urgent care, got cleaned up and were give antibiotics. Owner had the worst injuries out of everyone. Owner's other dog was hospitalized, needed stitches. Owner said that Gertrude "took a big chunk" out of other dog's back. Gertrude latched on the other dog. This animal is currently available from foster care through ACCT Philly's Adoptions Programs. If the foster has not listed a personal email, contact
