My Story

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to [email protected] with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Georgia Daisey Pup DanDate into Rescue: 12/20/2023 Reason for being in rescue: born into CPR rescue Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet, SC Special Needs? Georgia is up to date on vaccines for her age. Georgia is a growing puppy that is crate trained. Georgia's mom Daisey is a standard poodle. Dad is a man of mystery but one of her siblings had DNA done and we now know Georgia is truly a mixed breed doodle - a little shepherd, a little herding dog, a little of a few other things. She is a true doodle mix. She is not hypoallergenic and will shed. Georgia had some muscle weakness and we took her to the vet. We're not sure if it was simply growing pains but her shoulder for a while behaved like one that was going to be compromised. Whatever was going on, it has resolved and she is now cleared for adoption. She is also prone to upper respiratory infections which we think may be environmental. She needs a more suburban environment than a farm. Sidewalks, here she comes ! Weight: 48.6 lbs and growing - We expect Georgia will be 55 ish or more pounds when full grown Height: 20 in and growing - We expect Georgia will be 22-24 in at the shoulder when full grown Spayed/Neutered: No - Georgia is a young pup and needs her hormones to continue growing her bone structure. She will be placed on a spay contract so when she is age appropriate, this important surgery can be done. Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? Yes, Georgia requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller What kind of home would be best for me? Georgia was the most independent and the leader of her siblings. She is confident and carefree and while she loves to romp and play with her friends, a home that has a committed owner ready to socialize and spend time with her, and with a firm plan for socialization for their new pup would be our goal. Georgia could be an only dog if you had plans for weekly socialization. This plan should include a minimum of 2 times per week with other dogs for a minimum of 1 hour per session. It could be play dates, doggie day care, etc. But time off leash to run, romp and roll with other dogs is essential. Keeping her as an only dog and away from other dogs would be detrimental to her mental and emotional growth. She needs to be around her own kind. While she is more people focused, both her brain and her body need the workout only another dog can give her. Georgia is looking for a home that will take her inate intelligence and mold it. She will be easy to train because she is so intelligent. If you don't teach her, that can turn into a negative very quickly. She needs to learn, to be taught, to be shaped and molded. Georgia has never lived with cats. I am not quite sure what she would do with one. She is very good with small dogs. Doodlles are active, agile little dogs that need homes that are ready to tire them out both mentally and physically, so a fenced in yard will be required. Doodles are very well rounded dogs, they do not meet strangers and would do well with a nice big family or a single owner! What matters most to a doodle is a happy and excited owner ready to take on loving and training their new bff! What is my personality like? Georgia - the leader of the pack. As the pups are growing and personalities are emerging, it's obvious that Georgia is the "one to watch" in the success department. There is one good word to describe Georgia - confident. She's ready for a party at all times, and acts like she already knows the way of the world. She doesn't but she sure wants to. Georgia learns everything quickly. Show her once and she's ready to do it. She is learning to sit and to walk on a leash. She is clean in her crate and sleeps well from 10:30 pm to 7:30 am. She is curious and inquisitive about all. She likes other dogs both large and small as long as she is not in the pack. When she is with her siblings, she is the one they follow and sometimes she leads them where they should not go! It's tough being a leader in your first supervisory role. Running the fence line after the horses is not the skill set I wanted her to learn or teach (sigh). Georgia was the first one out of the whelping box! Georgia loves one treat unconditionally - milk bones Georgia's mom Daisey is wonderfully gentle and sweet and is also very much a leader. Georgia takes after her mom for sure. Daisey has already been adopted. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly Other tips and tidbits: Georgia was born into rescue on 12/20/2023. We do NOT think she is hypoallergenic even though she is 60% poodle. Her adult coat is still coming in so it's hard to tell but I believe she will be a light shedder. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.
