My Story

Sept 25th, 2007. Status: ADOPTED! WAY TO GO GEORGE!

George's foster home writes... George is a large, neutered PB German Shorthair Pointer approximately 5 to 6 years old. Unlike many GSPs, he has a calm, unflappable disposition (unless he sees a squirrel). George is friendly, easy-going and extremely lovable. He is not a barker and gets along with other dogs on or off the leash but NOT cats. He needs some leash training (although using a Halti stops him from pulling) and work on "recall". He also needs a tall, strong fenced yard. He would enjoy going to obedience classes to learn how to "Come!" He loves going for walks and gets approx. 1 1/2 of walking per day. When George arrived at his foster home, he wasa bit chubby (from lack of exercise) but he has toned up considerably. He could stand to loose a couple more pounds, however, he is a big boy and it shouldn't be expected that he will be sleek like some of his GSP cousins. George loves playing "fetch" or curling up beside his foster parents on the couch. He also likes pointing at birds on roofs and fish in ponds. He is a wonderful family dog.

George is a German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP). He is approx. 5 years old, neutered and current on his vaccines. George is lucky to be alive today! CROSS OUR PAWS was contacted one week ago by a rescue in WA asking us if we could pull George from the Shelter as he and several other dogs were slated for experimentation at one of the Universities. Well, I guess you know what our answer was to that question.

George is a great dog. He was picked up as a stray and never claimed. Someone at sometime made the effort to train and feed him. George knows his sit, down and shake-a-paw commands and does it very willingly for a treat. Pointer Breeds need plenty of exercise everyday and George could stand to loose some extra pounds he put on while being at the shelter (he weighs 78 Lbs.)

Poor George just wants a family to love and a place to call home. He gets along well with other dogs and loves children.

If you can help George by fostering or adopting please email us and we will send you an application right away. It is imperative George attend obedience training with his new owner in order to be his best.
