Gator is a pure bred Jack Russell terrier. He is smart and active just as you would expect from a Jack Russell. He is FABULOUS with children of pretty much any age and usually seeks them out before the adults. He loves all people. He is fairly good with most other dogs and is currently in a home with 6 other dogs. He can be somewhat intimidated by big dogs and much prefers hanging out with the little ones. He generally prefers the company of people.
Gator seems to have come from a home that did not get rules and boundaries. He has not had any training but is learning quickly. His motto is: "will work for food" so clicker training with Gator is a joy. He knows sit, stand, spin, shake-a-paw, hi five, and wave. He is working on down, wait (don't follow me), come and stay this week. Gator LOVES the puzzle cube which he has figured out how to get his food out of pretty quick. He has a stuffed cat toy that he likes to carry around. And as far as toys go, stuffes are his favourite!! He is interested in balls and does bring them back from very short distances.
Gator is crate trained and house trained. He is a very good boy is his crate! He asks to go out when he needs to. He is vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and neutered.
Gator would be happiest in a home with children to play with and another small dog. We are looking for a home that will occupy this boy both physically and mentally so he stays out of trouble. We would prefer to have someone who is knowledgable of the Jack Russell breed. We plan on starting Gator with some basic flyball training as he seems to enjoy toys and balls. Gator is around 14 inches tall and about 15lbs. He is about 2-3 years old.
br>Adoption Application
NEW HOPE DOG RESCUE is not a shelter. Our dogs are placed in loving foster homes. WE NEED FOSTER HOMES TO HELP MORE DOGS - CONTACT US TODAY!!!
Definitions:
Pending - means that we are working through the adoption process with the 1st applicant. We usually don't add the pending until we are pretty sure the adoption will go through (like at the home visit stage)
On Trial or Trial Visit - means that the dog is in their new home for up to 2 weeks before the adopters need to commit to keeping the dog. We want to make sure that everyone is happy with the new living arrangements! We allow this option for everyone except very long distance adoptions (too far to drive).
Adopted - you know!! A happy ending for a homeless dog. We try to let everyone know when we have the final word. Within about 24 hours, the dog's bio will be moved to our happy tails section!
