My Story

GARY IS BEING FOSTERED IN SW PENNSYLVANIA. Gary is a young tri-color male that came to us from rural Ohio with a buddy who has already gone to his new home. He is about 18 mos old, but behaves like a much more mature dog. Although he started out in foster care completely ignorant of life in a home, he has blossomed into a well-mannered, polite, very calm and happy ES. We've fixed a broken tooth and in spite of the pain it must have caused him, he has been a happy fellow throughout his entire stay. Gary gets along well with all other dogs, people, and poultry. He is submissive and low-key, and relates more to people than to other animals. He's quite affectionate without being pushy. This fellow enjoys car rides, new places, crates well, doesn't bark or get destructive when left alone. He's not shy, but he's a soft-hearted guy that responds best to quiet commands and gentle leadership, both of which have helped him to make positive associations with basic obedience training. Gary is not yet reliable off-leash, and he does like to chase bunnies, so continued obedience training is a must. Housebreaking should be much easier now that he has been neutered. He is very clean but did show a tendency to mark when the female dogs in the house came into season. Gary would be a great choice for a person or family who is looking for a young dog who is past puppy naughtiness. He'd do well in the home of a working person or couple, as he is affectionate without being "needy." He also would be fine in a multi-dog household. Gary is still learning lessons taught by the farm cats, but remains pretty exuberant around them. So a home without cats or one that can continue to teach him proper manners around felines is essential. This nice dog is ready for a home in someone's heart. Is their room in yours?
