My Story

Gandolph's adoption fee has been covered by Hank of Tudor House Liquors in East Longmeadown in memory of his dog Clover. Thank you Hank! Gandolph is a timid boy who is working on getting back to his ideal weight and is looking for a home that will help him feel safe and work on his confidence so he feels comfortable going on walks and exploring the world around him with his people. OTHER PETS: Gandolph is calm and relaxed with other dogs, even if they are a bit high energy around him. He would do likely do well with other dogs, but to ensure a good fit he should meet any other dogs he would be living with prior to adoption. [Likely (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: Gandolph is very timid, he will need an owner with lots of patience to help him settle into his new home as he may be a flight risk; any prior experience with dogs would be helpful in making Gandolph feel safe. [Some Experience] KIDS: Gandolph would likely do well with children that he meets in the community, but those that live with him need to understand not to try to take food away from him. He did not exhibit resource guarding during his behavior evaluation, and was gentle taking treats, but in order to set Gandolph up for success he should not live with young humans. [10+ (Must Meet First)] ACTIVITY LEVEL: Gandolph may prove to have more energy than he is currently exhibiting in the kennels once he is settled in and feels safe in his new home. He enjoys spending time outside and using his nose to explore the world around him, multiple daily walks would be good for Gandolph, length can be built up over time as his confidence and leash skills improve. [Good Walking Buddy] VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] GROOMING: [Minimal] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Gandolph gain confidence and build trust with his new owner as well as ensuring he has a mastery of basic cues and skills. Gandolph can be nervous around new things, and may need extra support and confidence-building in a new home and environment. With the support of his owner and some patience, Gandolph will be able to tackle any challenge set before him. [Moderate]
