My Story

Gamble is a red & white boy who was found as a stray in Walker County. He is a young dog, about 2 1/2, and he has a lot of spirit and energy. He loves to play and wants attention from his loved ones (animal and human) all the time. He is not totally house broken, but he is working on it. He has been abused in his life; he is afraid of loud voices and big unexpected movements or noises, he cowers on the floor. But he is getting a little better as his confidence around his foster house builds. He does like other dogs and cats too, but he tends to play rough and his foster brothers and sisters run out of energy before he does. He plays hard and he sleeps soundly too - not much of a guard dog, although he does have a loud beautiful baritone bark that sounds more serious than it is. Gamble was underweight when he was found and he has some food issues...he is very afraid he won't ever get anymore and he bolts his food and swallows it whole and then tries to eat everyone elses. He is a tad food aggressive and that has been the only thing he has fought about in his foster home. He is always first in line for eatibles. Because of this, it is possible he might snatch food out of a child's hand if it were reachable; he wouldn't be biting them, just focused on the food. We are working to assure him that meals will be regular around here and he can calm down. Gamble is a wonderful dog and so thrilled and appreciative of having a family to be with. He loves walks, riding in the car and when he is with his people friends, one on one without other animals around to compete with, he is totally calm and relaxed. Gamble doesn't like to be alone and would do well with someone that could spend lots of time with him. He is very intelligent and is making great progress; don't count him out just because he needs a little training - if given with love, he responds whole heartedly and will be a fabulous family pet in no time.
