My Story

Frieda, also known as Luna, is an approximately two year old black and white female chihuahua looking for her forever home! Frieda was found running around as a stray in Raleigh. Frieda weighs about 8.5 pounds. Frieda is a friendly, sweet girl who loves to tap dance when she is happy (which is most of the time!) She is shy when meeting new people but if you let her come to you on her terms and you get down to her level and offer her a treat, she will be your new friend. Frieda loves to be near her humans. Once she trusts you she will follow you everywhere you go, all day long! She also loves her foster fur sister and brother. She is very lovable to both humans and dogs. Frieda’s forever dream home would include someone who is home at times throughout the day and not somewhere she’d be left alone for 8 to 10 hours at a time; if that’s not possible, maybe having a friend to keep her company would be sufficient. She will do great with a sibling or alone. We believe she would do better with children over the age of 8-10 years old. Even though she is gentle and has not shown any aggression, we are not sure how she would handle little kids who were not able to respect her need to go slow. She has not been cat tested so we’re not sure how she’d do around cats. Frieda loves to play. She gets bouts of energy, and races around doing the zoomies. She loves to chew on yak bones but thus far has not seemed interested in dog toys. She loves to be outside in the yard, so a fenced in yard would definitely be a bonus. She loves running around in the yard chasing flying insects and crickets. Frieda is currently learning crate training. She is not crazy about it but will go in with a yummy treat. Currently, her foster mom only crates her when she leaves the house. She sleeps in bed and snuggles with her humans and/or foster siblings. She loves her dog bed and often can be found snuggling in one during the day. Frieda is completely potty trained and knows to go outside . However, if her foster mom misses her cues, she does know how to use pee pads that are in foster mom’s house. She is treated motivated and very smart . Due to this, her foster mom believes it will be very easy to continue her training. Frieda is spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, and is microchipped. She is heartworm negative and does take monthly heartworm prevention. She has been fully vetted. Her adoption donation is $300. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. To submit an application go here……chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/ An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled. Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative. Reference checks and a home visit are required so southeast dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, VA, TN, AL, MD and GA.
