My Story

Stunning Freddy is looking for a foster or a furever home. He has a beautiful white coat with black markings, and at just 80 pounds—is what we call a "Pocket Pyr." He’s the perfect size for anyone looking for a smaller male dog. He loves to go exploring in the yard and on walks. This smart boy will sit for a treat...on occasion—isn’t that just like a Pyr? As all good Pyrs do, Freddy will bark, but only at things that need to be barked at! Freddy is a gentleman at grooming time, sitting to be brushed and to have his nails trimmed, although he can show some sensitivity around his ears. Freddy would do best in an area that is not prone to a lot of storms or fireworks. This boy likes to be indoors and prefers to have his person to himself so will need a home where he is the only animal. The ideal foster or furever home for Freddy would be one where he can soak up all the love and attention from his family. He promises to take his Pyr responsibilities seriously, patrol the yard, and keep his home and family safe. Won’t you give Freddy a chance and apply to adopt or foster him and make him your Furever Freddy? NYS Registered Rescue # RR102 NGPR dogs are in foster homes at the location specified on their full listing. View the full listing (with location, fee and application link) at HTTPS://NATIONALPYR.ORG/ADOPTABLE-DOGS Completion of an application is required to be considered for any dog. Please fill out the application on our website and we will contact you. HTTPS://NATIONALPYR.ORG/ADOPTION-APPLICATION/ Due to the high level of interest we can't respond to emails unless an application has been submitted. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature (www.nationalpyr.org/know-the-breed) and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed.
