Name: Flora Age: 2-4 years old Breed: Rough Collie Dogs: Yes, best with another dog (larger breeds only) Cats: No kitties at all Kids: 12+ Special Needs: No MUST haves: Fully fenced, secure yard Flora is shy with strangers and will not let a stranger approach her. However once she knows you, she is super affectionate and cuddly. She doesn't mind being brushed and allows all handling without showing any hint of aggression. She is easily spooked and will absolutely need an owner who is gentle and uses only positive training methods. She has clearly been an indoor dog at some point in her life. She is house trained, well behaved in the house, not destructive when left alone, and shows no separation anxiety. She was quiet when she first arrived but has since become more vocal, although not more than a normal collie. Flora loves other dogs and is very well socialized with them, and would do best with another herding breed around her size in her home. She can become obsessive about herding smaller dogs, and should not have any cats in her new home for this reason. Flora's only limitation at the moment is that leash walks are an impossibility. She must have never been walked in her previous life and will immediately balk and lay down, even when you try leading her by the collar. She responds well to her name and will follow easily where you want her to go, so moving her around the house and property is not a problem. She is not super high energy, but will need a good sized securely fenced yard for exercise. She loves fetching tennis balls and running and playing with other dogs. The vet estimated Flora to be around 2-4 years old and discovered she was already spayed. She is now ready to find her forever home! Currently fostered in Guelph, Ontario.
