My Story

Flip has been here at the Mahoning County Dog Warden for a year and a half! Over 18 months living in a kennel. Every day is very similar. *breakfast *outside time while his kennel is cleaned *back in for most of the day with a toy to pass the time *a walk if volunteers come (or if time permits for staff) *dinner time *outside bathroom break *bed time This is his day repeated over and over. The background is filled with loud barking, neighbors dogs pacing, anxious anticipation that seeing the face of a human might mean an adventure out of the cage….many times being disappointed that it isn’t his turn. Despite all of this he is a VERY happy boy. He is silly and playful and quite a character. He LOVES to go for walks and never tires!!! He can endlessly entertain himself with squeaky toys-shaking them, tossing them in the air and inevitably destroying them. ? He looks to possibly be a pit bull/boston terrier mix? He is solid and compact. He loves people, butt scratches and one on one time. He is medium energy. Thrives during one on one time. Longs for companionship. Dog friendly/selective (some males are not his choice for friends) Kids and cats unknown Approx 3 yrs old Flip deserves a chance at being a part of a home and family. He came in as a stray on November 1, 2022- in horrible shape. He has come such a long way. A dog living in a pound for this long will need extra special patience and understanding. Decompression could take quite some time. Half of his life has been living at the pound. He likely doesn’t remember anything different and that just might not be a bad thing all things considered. Please share him. He is our longest resident?? ?? ????With the amount of dogs in our care we are not always able to read comments under our posts. We post to get the dogs pictures and info out there to find them homes but can not follow up with communication under the posts on this page. There are just too many comments. If you have a question please private message this page or send us an email. Please follow the directions below ?????? If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs please email [email protected] to request an application. Once approved we will call you to set up a meet and greet. If you do not hear from us within 2-3 days please call the office to follow up on the status of your application. ??To speed up the process please fill out the application completely. *First and last name of applicant. *phone number *Address-City, State and Zip code *Landlord’s contact information ?? ?Friends of Fido will cover the costs of training classes to an approved adopter.?
