Fitz: Our Longest Animal in Rescue Fitz's journey began over 3 years ago when he came to us at just 7 months old, escaping a rough background filled with pain and neglect. His early days were a heartbreaking tale of starvation, dehydration, confinement, and injuries, including a broken hip. But despite the trauma he endured, Fitz's spirit never wavered. Since his arrival in February 2021, Fitz has embarked on an incredible transformation journey. He went from not knowing how to be a dog to mastering commands like "sit," "stay," "lay," and "shake," he's come such a long way with the help of board and train sessions. He's a quick learner, especially when treats and toys are involved, and he's eager to please his human companions. While Fitz may have a few quirks from his past trauma, he truly is a great dog. Due to past trauma of unknown proportions, Fitz prefers to be the only dog in the household. When he first arrived he was unable to be near other dogs because he was so reactive to them. Now, he can go on walks past them and no pay them any mind. This is what a dedicated handler can do for Fitz. Despite our best efforts in promoting him every day for nearly two weeks, Fitz's posts still receive minimal interactions and shares. It breaks our hearts to see him continue to wait day after day without any adoption applications. We believe Fitz is more than just "another pitty that doesn't like other dogs."
