My Story

Fiona is absolutely adorable! She is a purebred Border Collie, although she doesn't have the traditional markings. She was an owner surrender due to a very dysfunctional family. She was with them for 4 months and we don't know exactly what happened to her, but she is extremely fearful when she meets new people. She wants to say hi, but she just goes and hides. She's was born in January 2007 so she is still young and we are pretty confident she'll get over it as she matures, but if something horrendous happened at a critical stage of her development, she may always be shy initially. It's sad, but once she knows you, she's just fine and you forget that she is shy. So, we are thinking that we don't want her going to a busy household, with new people coming and going all of the time. Because of this fearful behavior, we feel that Fiona needs 3 things: she needs a fenced in yard; she needs another confident dog to emulate, and she needs a family that knows how to handle her fearful behavior properly so she's blossom. She currently weighs about 45#.

Fiona LOVES to play with other dogs! She is also fine with cats. She hasn't been around smaller children as far as we know. She does have some herding tendencies, so we don't advise children under 5.

She is house trained and crate trained and is extremely smart! She knows basic commands, such as SIT, COME, WAIT, DOWN and is learning more. She loves to play fetch with just about any toy, but tennis balls are her favorite. Once she is perfect with her commands and gets over her shyness a bit, she would be a terrific agility dog.

Fiona loves the water! She plays in her water dish, too. Such a silly girl!

Fiona is very fun. Who wants to give this special girl the loving, patient home she deserves?
