My Story

ADOPTED!
My name comes from the Irish name for "vine". Maybe they named me Fiona because I am strong and flexible. I've been through a lot in the first year of my life. I was a stray whose owner never claimed me at the shelter, and I came very close to being euthanized because no one else wanted me. But--at the last minute--a nice rescue lady from very far away saved my life. She saw my picture on Petfinder, and she saw something special in me, so she made arrangements for me to travel all the way from Georgia to Wisconsin (where I'm now being fostered until I find a home of my own). I am very small for a Spaniel (I weigh about 25 lbs.) and I have the silkiest, softest black hair you've ever seen. You can almost see your reflection in my beautiful black coat! My foster mom says I have very intelligent eyes too, but I don't know if you see tell that in my pictures. Can you? I hope someone out there can see the beauty in me that my rescue "mom" saw, but I worry because black dogs are so often overlooked. Did you know that black dogs are the last ones to be adopted in shelters and rescues? I don't really know the reason for that. People seem to think black stallions and black pearls are special, so why can't people see the beauty in black dogs? Anyway, I am very sweet and extremely loving, good with other dogs and cats, playful, housebroken, immunized, heartworm tested, microchipped, and spayed. Because I'm a little on the shy side, my rescue mom would prefer I not be adopted by a family with small children who might accidentally hurt or frighten me. She also hopes to find an adopter who just works part-time, works at home, or is retired so I won't have to be a latch key dog. A fenced in yard would be an extra plus (but no invisible fencing, please.) and I would love to have a doggie playmate. My adoption fee is $225, and if you would like more information about me, you may e-mail my foster mom at: [email protected].
Please click on "One Starfish Rehoming Connections" under the photo to
read more about our rescue's adoption policies and fees. We do not operate a
humane society or shelter, so we do not have a facility that is open to the
public. Our dogs are fostered by volunteers in private homes, and are not
available for viewing until an adoption application is filled out and references
are checked. Please read the information on our home page (by clicking on our
rescue name below this dog's photo) before contacting us.
