BREED: Bulldog
AGE: 1 year old (approx DOB is 11/01/2022)
WEIGHT: 52 lbs
LIKES: Starbucks pup cups, other dogs, toys, going out to meet new people, trying to fit in his foster mom's lap like he's a small puppy
DISLIKES: Being ignored when he wants your attention
FAVORITE THINGS: Snacks, pets, squeaky toys, and bowling for humans
ENERGY LEVEL (High/Med/Low): Medium
CRATE TRAINED: Yes. Finn will go jump in his crate for snacks
HOUSE BROKEN: Work in progress. Sometimes Finn gets to playing so hard in the house that he forgets to go to the door and will have a piddle accident. He usually goes to the door though, and he always poos outside.
MEDICAL ISSUES: Yes. Finn was born with two congenital birth defects. He was found in a local park as a very skinny stray and has really blossomed in foster care. But he will need a new owner who understands the potential care he will need in the future. Finn was born with a dermoid cyst covering the entire iris of his right eye. During his time with the rescue, he had a very expensive surgery to correct this. After months of follow up care, he finally had a sight reaction at a check up, indicating that they actually gave him sight in his right eye! We aren't sure exactly what he sees, it may just be shadows. But no further care is needed on his eye. Finn's second issue was that he was born as ectrodactyly in his front right leg. This is also referred to as 'lobster claw"; and can occur in humans as well. We have consulted with a number of vets, including two specialists, and it's likely that Finn will need an amputation at some point in his life as the leg breaks down. We are happy to discuss this more with any potential adopter. But we would hope that anyone who would like to adopt Finn would go google this condition to understand it. Right now, Finn gets around on his leg pretty well and is an exuberant puppy who doesn't let it stop him.
Finn has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and is on a monthly heartworm and flea medication.
REQUIREMENTS of NEW HOME: We would prefer to see Finn with someone who either has experience with his breed or someone who has extensive medical experience with pets. If you fill out an application, please make sure to reference his condition so that we know you read this far. We would not recommend a home with shared walls for Finn (such as an apartment) due to his vocal nature (it's high pitched when he's trying to get your attention!). Finn is a very active boy who likes to wrestle and tumble around with his foster siblings so he would do well with a fenced yard or someone who will find safely fenced areas for him to play in. Finn has experience going to dog parks and to Tuckers Tapyard and he absolutely LOVES to meet new play buddies. He still has a lot of puppy energy but also loves to climb into our lap and get belly rubs once he wears out. Due to his low center of gravity, Finn acts like a canine bowling ball when he's excited and coming directly at you. So, we wouldn't recommend a home with someone who falls easily or who has knee problems. He will also need a home without a lot of stairs due to his potential need for amputation in the future.
If you are interested in giving Finn the loving home he deserves, please fill out an application at the link below to get the ball rolling on a meet and greet.
