My Story

Meet the lovely Miss Fern! Fern was quite the wallflower when she first came to Animal Friends as a stray, but her personality has definitely started to blossom! She is estimated to be around 7 years old, but still has a good amount of energy and is very sweet. When she is comfortable she is happy to go and seek out attention. Staff described her as a "big lap dog" and she isn't afraid to give a little sass and let out a bark if she is being ignored. Fern doesn't just rely on her looks and is also one smart girl who knows sit and can offer her paw on both sides. She is very treat motivated and would likely be willing to learn more tricks! Fern has been dog tested with another female dog. Fern seemed nervous around the other dog initially, but the longer the two hung out, Fern was open to going over and sniffing her and eventually felt comfortable bowing and playfully jumping around the other dog. Fern seemed to need to grow her confidence around other dogs, and may do best with a respectful dog who gives her time to open up and be comfortable. Fern was a bit dramatic for her vetting and may need some extra patience for vet visits, but this sweet girl deserves it! Fern is current on shots, licensed and microchipped. All dogs over 6 months have been heartworm tested, and all dogs are treated monthly for fleas/ticks and are on Heartworm prevention (NexGard PLUS). All pets are spayed/neutered prior to a finalized adoption. All our dogs receive a behavior assessment before being placed for adoption to determine initial behaviors towards people and other dogs in the shelter environment. If you have questions about an animal please have their name and ID number ready and contact shelter staff by: (1) visiting Animal Friends during our open hours, (2) calling 513-867-5727, or (3) emailing [email protected]. WE HAVE MORE PETS IN THE SHELTER THAT ARE NOT ON PETFINDER.
