Every day I have to tell myself to take a breath, pick myself up and start all over again. My name is Fenton and I am a 40 pound 7 year old Shepherd/Alaskan Malamute mix who has been thru hell. For at least four months, I wandered the woods on my deceased owner's property, fending for myself and facing the elements alone. When I came to Rescue One, ticks had ravaged my body and I was very underweight. Now that I am in a foster home, I'm working on my recovery. Recently, I've started to come out of my shell, thanks to the patience and care of my rescuers. I've been pawing through the kennel, reaching out for a connection, and I no longer freeze up when someone approaches. I've even started to dance with excitement around other dogs. OH and food gets me real excited! I'm making great strides :)
I am house, crate and leash trained as well as good with small dogs, but I'm not a fan of cats or bigger dogs. I will need a quiet home with patient adopters who have the time to focus solely on me. I am looking for a chance to trust humans again and re-develop the confidence that I once had as a young pup who knew no hardship. If you are up for the challenge and ready to make a difference, come find me! I am ready to start that new chapter of my life!
My adoption fee is $75 and includes my spay/neuter, vaccinations, wellness exam, heartworm test, and microchip! If you're interested in meeting/adopting me, please visit www.rescueonespringfield.com/our-adoption-process/adoption-application/ and fill out the form! *Remember, dogs are pack animals. Because of this, Rescue One does not adopt to outdoor-only homes. Pets are family and are not disposable. Please make sure that you are 100% committed to a pet before considering adding one to your home.
