My Story

Faith is in her new home in upstate New York. Her new Mom, Susan, says Faith has fit in so well that you would not even know that Faith is blind. Faith is in her new home with Pirate, Peanut, and Pumpkin (a dalmation, Mastiff and Great Dane). She also has a lovely new fenced in yard! Last Friday we got a call from a local shelter saying a Dane puppy had been dropped off to be put to sleep simply for the fact that she is blind. We immediately picked her up and spent all of Saturday at the vet's office. Faith had x-rays, a barium swallow study and numerous other tests performed. Faith is currently completely blind and we do not believe she will ever be able to see. Faith is living with 5 other dogs at this time, ranging in various sizes and age. She is good with everyone. Faith is also learning words that will help her once she finds her forever home. In addition, we are working on obedience. Faith is being crate trained and is clean in her crate. We are working on housebreaking. Faith is currently not available for adoption for she has pneumonia and needs time to recover. Once she is healthy she will be spayed and be ready for her forever home. If you are able to help us help save Faith, we would greatly appreciate it. You can make a donation at our website at www.helporphanpuppies.org. Thank you. UPDATE: It is hard to believe that is has been over 2 weeks since Faith joined our home - she has come out of her shell and wormed her way into our hearts! We went by the shelter and everyone was amazed at how much progress she has made! The edema in her one eye has decreased and the other eye is open more. Faith has increased her vocabulary and is even walking off leash with us. Faith is scheduled to be spayed on September 30th. At this time we will also x-ray her hips and do a full blood panel. We believe Faith will be ready for her new home the first week of October. If you are interested in adopting Faith, we are now accepting applications. Please note that you must have a fenced in yard. Due to her blindness, there can be no exceptions to this rule. Also, there needs to be at least one other dog present that Faith can bond with and that will be her "guide" dog. Thank you to all of you who have donated to Faith's cause. We have been able to apply this to her bills but still have a long way to go, so if you are able to give, we will greatly appreciate it. Thank you. Faith is now pending adoption. She was spayed yesterday and had more tests completed. Upon scoping her esophagus and stomach, it was determined that she has an ulcer. Faith will be going to her new home next week. Thank you so much to everyone who donated so that we could help Faith. Also, thank you for all the applications and the notes in support.
