UPDATE: July 1, 2024 - Although Eva was a bit of a handful during her first five days in foster care, she’s settled in very well with the other two dogs she’s living with. As a fearless, front-of-the-pack girl, Eva has learned to slow her roll considerably and be respectful toward the other front-of-the-pack female in the house as well as the back-of-the-pack male dog (the wonderful Clarence, RBR foster). With plenty of feedback from her foster parents, as well as good modeling from the dogs, she has learned to be an exemplary pup!
Eva is very good in her crate and her prey drive during walks is easily managed (deer are her biggest trigger) with a Halti-type lead. What Eva most requires is an owner that will hold her to a very high standard so that she’s able to be her best and not just do whatever makes sense to her in the moment. Eva is treadmill trained, which is very helpful when she needs help settling. (Just 3.5 minutes makes all the difference!) Eva is very friendly with all people and also with dogs as long as the introduction is well managed.
Eva is housetrained and ready for her forever home!

Those movie star eyes! Eva is a small (35 pound) Staffordshire terrier mix. This sleek, two-year-old blue beauty has a very intense demeanor. During her months at the rescue, she has shown us that she is very trainable and does have good social skills with other dogs. Other dogs just need to spend managed time with her to trust that it’s just her manner and that she is actually friendly.
Eva has a strong prey drive that can be managed quite well with a just a slip lead flipped over her snout or a head collar (Halti or Gentle Leader). This keeps her in her thinking brain and reduces her reactivity. She has learned to temper her impulses and will continue to improve once she’s in a home with people willing to keep her on the right track toward fulfilling her potential as an awesome dog.
Eva enjoys trotting on the treadmill and retrieving tennis balls. She is looking for an active owner/family that will continue to give her the guidance and redirection she needs. Please fill out the application at redbarnrescue.com to meet this wonderful dog!
